Parents Workshop on Early Literacy Development

Parents Work Shop 2Around 42 parents of children from Yonling day school and Rogpa Baby Care Centre attended the event which took place on July 5, 2016 in Lha’s Ahimsa Hall.
The workshop was led by Mr Jamyang Gyaltsen, an education specialist and Lha volunteer. He focused on the importance of early child development and strategies for reading and storytelling.

Parents Work Shop 3Ms Tenzin Dekyi, M.A in English Literature then led a session, speaking on the importance of parents talking to their children and providing guidance on how parents can generally support or guide their children by having conversations with them.

Parents actively participated throughout the workshop and felt that many of their doubts had been addressed.
The workshop concluded with a distribution of children’s story books in Tibetan and English language, at no cost to participants.
